Skiing tracks

The Kohtla-Nõmme cross-country skiing tracks were established at the beginning of 1980ies, in order to improve the sporting conditions of the employees of the Kohtla mine. It is one the most unique ski track premises in Estonia as due to the lack of natural raised landscape in the region, the skiing tracks are running along the formed oil shale quarry, thus being under the ground surface.
At present, skiers can use a 1.7 km illuminated track and 2 km, 3 km, and 5 km unlit tracks. The cross-country track premises also include a ski house.
